A property developer has lodged a police report over an alleged illegal marketing of its Penang World City project in Bayan Mutiara here.
The developer claimed that a man had uploaded a graphic featuring details of project’s first phase development on his Facebook (FB) account recently, complete with the purported condominium size, selling price and other relevant details.
A representative of the Tropicana Ivory Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company of Ivory Properties Group, made a report a Patani Road police station yesterday.
Ivory Properties Group Berhad deputy chairman and executive director Datuk Seri Nazir Ariff said the company had never entrusted any agent to sell or promote the Penang World City project.
“The details displayed on the social networking site are not true and they definitely did not come from us.”
“We will not be responsible towards any losses incurred on any party who has made payment to any agent for the Penang World City project,” he said in a press release yesterday.
It is learnt that the man had apparently commented that an agent supplied him with the details and that deposit collection could be made at Ivory Properties Group Berhad corporate office in Birch House.
A police spokesman confirmed they had received a police report, adding that the case would be referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
