Residents of D’Shire Villa in Section 4, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, are having sleepless nights because of construction work going on at a neighbouring site.
Building manager Hafiz Ahmad, 28, said they had received at least eight complaints from residents so far because the noise from the construction site was keeping them awake at night.
“They would work past 7pm, sometimes until midnight and even on Sundays.
“There have been several incidents where the crane that they are using would swing over our compound and we are worried about the safety of the residents,” said Hafiz.
He also said there was stagnant water in the construction site which had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The project contractor declined to comment on the matter.
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) public relations officer Zainun Zakaria said residents should call the council’s hotline when the contractor exceeded the working hours.
“If they inform us, we can send our enforcement officers to the site immediately so that the contractor can be caught red-handed,” she said.
